From Student to Practitioner: One Woman's Journey from Her First Sound Bath to Teaching Others
Sometimes the most powerful testimonials aren't just about what someone learned - they're about who someone became. Today I want to share a story that captures the essence of why I do this work, why Sound Sage exists, and why I believe we're all walking each other home through the medicine of sound.
This is the journey of one of my inaugural Sound Sage graduates Becca, and her words remind me why this calling chose me in the first place.
When We Need Gentle Support Most
"The first sound bath I ever experienced was with Danielle at Yoga Soup, during a time when I needed gentle support and care."
Isn't it beautiful how the universe conspires to bring us exactly what we need, exactly when we need it? This student found her way to one of my community sound baths at Yoga Soup during a tender time in her life. She wasn't looking to become a practitioner - she was simply seeking healing.
This is how it often begins. We don't usually wake up one day and decide to become sound healers. Instead, we find ourselves drawn to an experience, seeking something we can't quite name. Maybe it's rest for a nervous system that's been running on overdrive. Maybe it's space to feel what we've been too busy to process. Maybe it's simply the remembering that we are held.
The Profound Transformation That Changes Everything
"That experience was profoundly transformative. It opened me up to new layers of healing, and the inner journey that unfolded allowed my body to experience a deep sense of rest."
This is what happens when we create truly safe containers for healing. When someone's nervous system finally feels permission to drop into deep rest, layers of holding that they didn't even know existed begin to soften.
I've witnessed this thousands of times now - that moment when someone's body remembers what safety feels like. It brings tears to my eyes even as I write this because THIS is why we create the space we do. When the 432 Hz crystal bowls begin their work and something ancient in our cells responds with recognition. When the mind finally gets quiet enough for the body's wisdom to be heard.
But here's what I find most beautiful about her words: she doesn't just talk about feeling better. She talks about opening to "new layers of healing" and an "inner journey that unfolded." This is the difference between temporary relief and true transformation.
The Calling That Won't Be Ignored
"Since then, I've felt a strong calling to hold space for others."
And there it is - the moment when receiving becomes the catalyst for giving. When our own healing journey awakens the healer within us, the one that has always been there.
This is one of the most sacred aspects of sound healing work. It's not just about learning techniques or mastering instruments. It's about recognizing that our deepest wounds & experiences often become our greatest medicine, and that the healing we've received naturally wants to flow through us to others.
I see this pattern again and again with my students. They come seeking their own healing, and somewhere in that process, they discover they're being called to serve. Not because they're "fixed" or "perfect," but because they've walked the path and know the way back to wholeness.
Training That Honors the Sacred
"I am deeply grateful to have been part of the inaugural Sound Sage cohort, where I received invaluable tools and a wide range of teachings, not only from Danielle, but also through masterclasses with seasoned sound healers."
This touches my heart because it speaks to something I'm deeply committed to: creating training that goes far beyond just learning to play instruments.
In Sound Sage, we weave together multiple lineages of wisdom. Yes, you'll master the 432 Hz crystal bowls and understand the science of frequency healing. But you'll also learn from other seasoned practitioners who bring their own gifts to the container.
Because here's what I know: sound healing isn't about one person's way or one tradition's approach. It's about understanding the vast landscape of sound as medicine and finding your unique place within it.
Intentional Training for Sacred Work
"Danielle's training is both thoughtful and incredibly intentional, providing a rich understanding of the beautiful tapestry that makes up the landscape of sound while nurturing my desire to be of service."
"Thoughtful and incredibly intentional" - these words mean everything to me because they reflect how I approach this work. Sound healing isn't something you can learn in a weekend workshop or from YouTube videos. It requires deep understanding of trauma-informed care, nervous system regulation, energetic boundaries, and how to hold sacred space safely.
When someone trusts you with their healing journey, you're holding something precious. That requires skill, wisdom, and a commitment to ongoing growth. It requires understanding not just the "how" but the "why" and the "when."
Coming Home to Ourselves
"I am grateful to now step forward on this path, cultivating offerings that invite others to reconnect, restore, and come home to themselves."
"Come home to themselves" - isn't that what we're all seeking? In a world that often feels chaotic and disconnected, sound healing offers something profound: a pathway back to our own center, our own wisdom, our own innate capacity for healing.
This graduate is now out in the world, creating her own containers for transformation. She's part of a growing network of practitioners who understand that healing isn't something we do to people - it's something we facilitate as people remember their own wholeness.
The Ripple Effect Continues
What moves me most about this testimonial is how it captures the full journey. From receiving medicine to becoming medicine. From coming home to herself to helping others find their way home too.
This is why Sound Sage exists. Not just to train more sound healers, but to support the emergence of practitioners who understand that this work is sacred, who approach it with reverence and skill, and who are committed to serving from a place of authentic wisdom.
